Just For Sh*t & Giggles is a "X" shaped route located entirely within the North Wessex Down AONB.
The route itself begins below the Alton Priors White Horse and will take you around the Vale of Pewsey, through the Pewsey Downs National Nature Reserve, up to the Avebury Stone Circle, and on to the Marlborough Downs........it really is all a bit pretty!!
So how does a "X" shape route work is another question we hear from you now.......keep reading cos we are just full of answers for you..........
At the heart of the "X", at the Pewsey Downs car park, SN8 4JX, will be Race HQ. The route comprises of 4 out and back Legs from Race HQ. The Legs will be run in an anti clockwise order.. You have the option to sign up to run 2 Legs, 3 Legs, or all 4 Legs.
7.35 miles each way = 14.71 miles Leg total. 1155 ft elevation.
9.18 miles each way = 18.36 miles Leg total and 33.07 miles combined total. 1538 ft elevation combined total
9.57 miles each way = 19.14 miles Leg total and 52.24 miles combined total. 2720 ft elevation combined total
10.27 miles each way = 20.54 Leg total and 72.80 miles overall total.
4044 ft elevation combined total
There will be a fully stocked Aid Station at Race HQ and at the turn round point on each of the Legs. This is a CUPLESS event. You will have to bring your own collapsible cup.......if you don't then you will burn ya little fingers drinking hot drinks........and the flat coke will only make ya hands sticky. Our in house Medical Team will also be located at Race HQ should you need their services. The route will be fully marked with tape and signage. We will also have some super Marshals on the course letting you know that you have still got miles to go............ and encouraging you to do them !!
Competitors parking will be available near to Race HQ. Please do not park in the Pewsey Downs Car Park.......we do not have permission to use it, and as it is only a small car park.........we would very quickly fill it up and block it for members of the public.
Due to the current Covid concerns we will be operating staggered Start times as follows:
4 Legs - 0700 hrs
3 Legs - 0800 hrs
2 Legs - 0900 hrs
Cut off times for completion are as follows:
4 Legs: 24 hrs
3 Legs: 15 hrs
2 Legs: 9 hrs
Canicross entrants will set off 5 mins before non dog assisted runners.

In the event that you have entered but can no longer make the day then transferring your place to someone else is permitted and is the preferred option. To that end please contact us prior to arranging your own transfer. Any reimbursement of the entry fee then becomes a matter between yourself and the replacement runner. However if we have sold out the event and have a waiting list in operation then transfers will not be permitted and priority will be given to those on the waiting list. Any transfers will not be permitted less than 7 days before the event.
In the unlikely event that the race has to be cancelled, delayed, or postponed, due to circumstances beyond our control - no refunds will be payable.
Terms of Entry Disclaimer
When you enter a Crooked Tracks Wiltshire Event you the participant agree to the following Disclaimer on entry:
I declare that I will not compete in the race unless I am medically fit on the day of the race and that, in any event, I will compete at my own risk. I accept that the organisers / sponsors / partners / marshals will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses, which may arise as a consequence of my participation of the event. Entries are personal to the applicant. They cannot be sold or transferred without prior permission from the event organiser. I also hereby give my permission to Crooked Tracks Wiltshire to use my name, quotes and photographic likeness for marketing and promotional purposes. I also understand that the entry fee is non-refundable once entered.
You agree not to hold the organisers, marshals, volunteers, sponsors or any associated company or organisation working within the framework
of the event responsible for any personal injury, sickness or accident suffered, nor the loss of any property on the
course, changing areas or event centre. You participate entirely at your own risk and agree not to take part if you are
unwell or injured. You understand that the entry fee is non-refundable. You understand that participation is highly
individual and as such entries and race numbers are non-transferable.
Participants must be 20 years or over on the race date to take part in the event. All runners must attend the race brief and have registered 15 minutes before the start. Participants grant permission for photographs or films to be taken during the event and Crooked Tracks Wiltshire reserve the right to use such photographs for publicity or promote future events. All data is stored securely and will not be supplied to any third party. On race day you must complete personal details including any health issues and medication on the reverse of the race number. The race number must be worn at all times and visible for the duration of the race. Runners must follow any instructions given by event officials/marshals. Any Participant who retires during the event must ring the race day number or inform a marshal that they have done so. Crooked Tracks Wiltshire reserve the right to alter or amend race information or rules before the event and any changes will be published. Failure to follow event rules may result in disqualification.
1. Not litter the route and must use bins provided
2. Keep to the trail route and public paths so there is no impact to the environment
3. Give way to members of the public (runners do not have right of way on the course)
Failure to follow these rules will result in instant disqualification from the event!
